The AFR UnderCover grip has been a hit in the revolver community, and we’re thrilled with the enthusiasm and demand. However, our current inventory is far below what’s needed to meet this interest.
I planned to ramp up production after freeing machine capacity from OEM orders, but a critical machine component failed two weeks ago. The part, only made overseas with a 30-45 day lead time, delayed us until a friend supplied a spare, costing us two weeks.
To balance demand with production, we’re limiting AFR UnderCover stock to match the number of sign-ups. Our manufacturing can produce this batch in 6-8 weeks, with daily shipments based on order sequence. This ensures we meet demand without sidelining other popular products, like K/L/N frame Spegel grips.
While the quantities listed on the shop page are shown as “in stock,” this is, in essence, a pre-order that will ship as the grips are produced.
Up until this point, I have tried to avoid pre-order-type sales. We used pre-orders in the past when we were FDM printing and producing on demand, but this created problems. Right now, our concern is that if we produce all the inventory in anticipation of orders, we might overproduce and waste the time of our customers who are waiting for other products to be put in stock.
Within our shop, on the HF AFR UC page, we will include a note clarifying that these grips will be shipped as they’re made and that the current in-stock quantities do not reflect our physical inventory but rather our 6-8 week manufacturing capacity.
I hope everyone enjoys them, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
