“Where’s my order?!”

by | Aug 10, 2024

“Where’s my order?!” That’s what a lot of people are probably wondering. I want to reiterate that we’re doing everything we can to fill orders. We’re staying up late, and waking up early. We have not forgotten any orders, and as soon as your order ships, you will receive a tracking number and notification that your order has been completed.

But, at this time, I’m betting your order is somewhere in this pile of unshippable product-

No good pile. Straight to the garbage.

That’s about $5,000 in product, that we can’t use to fill orders. For about a week we’ve had to stop sending orders and running customer jobs. We’ve been accruing this stockpile of reject parts due to quality issues. A sample of these issues can be seen here-

As you can see, the surface of our “show side” looks terrible, and the inside looks perfect. When I started seeing the reject piles grow, I knew that we would soon go out of business with our failure rates being what they are. In response, we momentarily halted production. We’re in touch with our machine’s manufacturer, and the company that makes the powder we use to make our stocks.

But that doesn’t mean we’re not doing anything.

Last night we were up until 1:30am, and this morning we’re up early having a family meeting discussing material science.

Now, what does this mean for you? I hope to have this resolved quickly, and I hate that we’re not actively shipping orders. If our machine was up and running, in the way the manufacturer said it would, and the way that’s possible, we would be able to close all outstanding orders in 3 days.

At this time, that’s all I need, 3 days of runtime.

One customer stated, “Well, I didn’t think I’d be an angel investor in a high tech grip manufacturing process!”

And truth be told, he’s right, and at the same time, I didn’t think it would be an angel investor scenario.

This is my fault, and I feel as if I let down the people who have supported us the most, namely our customers.

As I’ve always stated when we’ve run into issues, please request a refund if the wait is too much, I’m happy to refund. But I hope as we figure this out, you don’t mind waiting for the product we’ve been shedding blood, sweat, and tears to bring to the market.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or questions. And if you’re an expert in material science, Selective Laser Sintering, Powder Bed Fusion, or some other type of wizard that can diagnose problems like this, don’t hesitate to fill out that contact form.

As always, thank you all.

Regards,

Ryan
